If there was a world championship for the most honest people, be sure that you’ll find Kanzaki Nao on the podium. She’s so honest that she doesn’t hesitate to bring back a ¥100 coin to the police station.
One day, she finds in front of her apartment’s door a strange package with a card inviting her to take part in the LIAR GAME TOURNAMENT. That package contains ¥ 100,000,000 and there’s also a 2nd card on which it’s written that by opening the package, she accepts the money and agreeds to take part in the first round of the LIAR GAME. There’s also a note that advises her to take care of that money. The main goal of the game is that you have to obtain your opponent’s money by all means necessary and you have a month. At the end of that month the LIAR GAME team will come and get the ¥100,000,000 ‘given’. So if the person manages to get ¥200,000,000, the person only gives back what he was given and so leaves with ¥ 100,000,000. On the other hand, the loser has a ¥ 100,000,000 debt since he’s lost his money.
That blows Nao away and she doesn’t know what to do. She can’t even talk about it to her father neither to her friends. After she learns her opponent’s name. His name is Fujisawa, her former professor. So she goes to his house, and the guy, knowing that she's credulous, will manage to steal her ¥ 100,000,000. So now, she has only 27 days to get the money back.
But, what to do? At first she goes to the police but they tell her that they can’t help her and they send her to an ex - swindler called Akiyama Shin’ichi, who’ll be soon out of prison. The police tell her that he’s the only one who can help her now. She decides to ask him for help and after some hesitations, he agreeds to help her…
But what they didn’t know is that it’s just the beginning of a long and merciless game where lies are kings…
My opinion:
I love that drama. It's one of my first and favourite. What I liked the most are all those psychological parts. You know, when you have to look one more time a scene just to be sure you understood everything. Seriously, the guys who made the script are geniuses and of course the mangaka (It goes without saying). It's really captivating. I've watched all the episodes in 2 days straight (I couldn't stop) and there are 2 seasons plus a film. There's one more thing I'd like to add: on French and English forums, they tend to compare Liar game and Death Note. Don't ask me why, I have no clue. There's nothing in common and seriously I've read both Liar Game and Death Note, and Liar Game is way better than Death Note (sorry if I offence someone). I'd say that Liar Game is subtler.
Actors:
as Akiyama Shin'ichi

Kichise Michiko

ps: Next time I'll talk about 2 newest dramas: Ouran High Shool Host Club and Ikemen desu ne
I always wanted to watch this series but I can't due to a very hectic schedule. Maybe I'll watch this on my next vacation... and I won't forget the popcorn since it looks to be a very interesting series.
